M.O.N.A. is a reflection on what it mean to be alive, when all of that static rise as an entity.

M.O.N.A is short for Mechanical Omnipresent Network Analyzer, Its a mapping project creating an entity made out of technologies that are no longer in use because they have been replaced by newer ones. Mona is very reactive to her surrounding because she is constantly seeking humans interaction in a attempt to feel human herself as she’s figuring out her existence into this world.

The first version was composed of 4 CRT TV accompanied by music and scenography. A webcam and a kinect would take care of detecting people in the space and the movement

For the second version we had 11 crt tv plus one made out of foam core to give her a head and the visuals have been updated into tree mode inspired by the rgb (red, green, blue) color code.

The final form of Mona has some kind of roots in the space that can be touched to modify the visuals in the televisions adding to the overwhelming quantity of informations Mona receives by her surrounding.

We chose the RGB colors for their iconic retro style and give them meaning to explore in our visuals to showcase Mona’s discovery of the world around her.

Mona was presented as 12 crt tv showing various visuals reflecting her perception and a foamcore sculpture with a projection of the eye. The eye directly show the state of Mona and folow one of the user to fully bring Mona to life.
